FortisAlberta's Recruitment Process

Once you’ve applied to a position with us, we will review your profile when the posting closes. We look at each and every candidate that applies to a position, and our Human Resources team works closely with our business leaders to shortlist candidates for their teams.

Once we have reviewed and shortlisted candidates we’d like to meet with, we typically set up introductory calls that are followed by one or more interviews with a selection team. We may include various assessments or tests if required.

Once we have identified the candidate we’re interested in hiring, we will complete pre-employment checks. These may include professional reference checks, criminal record checks, credential verifications, and for safety-sensitive positions an alcohol and drug (A&D) test as well as a physical assessment.

FortisAlberta’s Human Resources team will then make a formal offer – the final step before welcoming you to our team!

The whole recruitment process from the time a position is approved to when we welcome a new team member on their first day is approximately six to eight weeks.

We strive to add top professionals to our team as quickly as possible. We also understand candidates may have multiple opportunities they are considering, so we appreciate your patience and will do our best to keep in touch with you throughout the recruitment process if you are shortlisted.

We receive a significant number of job applications and appreciate the time, effort, and consideration every candidate puts into their resume and application. However, we will only contact those candidates who have been shortlisted for a role they have applied to.

On occasion we may reach out to you for a role that is different from the one you applied to. This is because we feel you might be an excellent fit for another opportunity within FortisAlberta, and would like to discuss this opportunity with you as well.

All emails from FortisAlberta’s Talent Services team will be sent through a FortisAlberta employee’s email account.
