Field Operations & Acheson Service Centre
Acheson Fleet
FortisAlberta’s Service Centre near Acheson, AB is home to several groups, including our Warehouse Operations, Technical Services, and Fleet teams. Our Warehouse and Yard Operators organize and store materials, prepare work orders, and ensure the timely delivery of required materials to sites across FortisAlberta’s service territory. Our Technical Services team ensures material and equipment is maintained, calibrated, verified, repaired, modified, or properly recycled, while Fleet ensures that FortisAlberta’s equipment, from pool vehicles to heavy equipment is maintained to support all other business units.
These groups play a critical role in ensuring FortisAlberta’s Field Operations groups have the materials and tools required to deliver to our customers. To be successful in any of these roles, candidates need exceptional attention to detail, must be well organized, and ideally have a technical background.
Field Operations
FortisAlberta’s Field Operations teams consist of skilled labourers, Power Line Technicians (PLTs), Planners, and other professionals responsible for the construction, operation, and maintenance of FortisAlberta’s electrical distribution system. FortisAlberta has been training our PLTs for over 40 years in our state-of-the-art Employee Development Centre (EDC) near Red Deer, Alberta. Many of our Field Operations staff have been trained from temporary labourer positions through their apprenticeship to become Journeyman PLTs who continue their ongoing development at the EDC.
Field Operations staff must demonstrate an unwavering and commitment to safety – FortisAlberta’s North Star. PLTs work in all weather conditions and must be physically fit, must have exceptional attention to detail and troubleshooting skills, and be committed to contributing to a close-knit, team-oriented environment that also delivers Excellence in Customer Service our customers and communities.
