Regulatory Affairs & Legal Counsel

Regulatory Affairs

As a regulated utility in Alberta, FortisAlberta is regulated by the Alberta Utilities Commission. Our Regulatory Affairs team gathers information from across FortisAlberta’s Operations to create and provide submissions, such as performance-based regulation submissions and cost of service applications, to the AUC. These submissions help keep distribution utility rates lower for our customers.
Our Regulatory Affairs team looks for collaborative team members who are knowledgeable about the electrical distribution or other regulated industries, have a methodical and collaborative approach and demonstrate their business acumen and critical thinking skills to help craft regulatory filings and tariff applications.

Legal Counsel

FortisAlberta’s Legal Counsel group is comprised of Legal professionals who provide support and legal advice to internal clients regarding legal matters as well as Policy and Compliance professionals who assess and implement strategies to mitigate risk and ensure corporate policies are adhered to.

Our Legal Counsel team values professionals who are careful, methodical, and analytical – carefully balancing facts and conducting research before making recommendations to mitigate business risks and ensuring the Company is compliant with legislation, policies, procedures, and best practices.
