DESCRIPTION: 
Under the direction of the Supervisor Warehouse Operation – Y & R, the Material Coordinator is responsible for the efficient coordination of inbound and outbound Project & Operation Service Area materials for stores and site locations. Additional responsibilities include the coordination of return recyclable materials, answering inquiries from stakeholders regarding shortages and material concerns.  


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):

  • Maintain standards for recycled and salvaged materials and coordinate their return to the Warehouse.
  • Efficiently coordinate inbound and outbound freight for the Service Centre and District Service Locations (DSLs).
  • Accountable for ensuring all safe work practices are being followed by staff and contractors at all times.
  • Act as the main contact for all material requirements and liaise with the projects and operations field staff.
  • Review and analyze all accounts payable through P2P invoicing for accuracy from our freight contractors prior to Supervisor approvals. 
  • Deliver training to Warehouse staff and freight contractors regarding meter quality assurance standards and material delivery practices.
  • Actively promote and support all FortisAlberta Policies and Procedures.
  • Assist with analyzing inventory discrepancies and implement corrective actions.
  • Operate Warehouse Service Centre equipment as required.
  • Participate in special projects or related warehouse duties as requested by Supervisor.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • A good working knowledge of Transportation of Dangerous Goods (TDG), WHMIS, Quality Assurance, waste management regulations, and all warehouse and inventory processes and practices.
  • Advanced experience with SAP, and material management systems such as Standards Data Base and Logistics Execution modules is required. 
  • Strong team building and interpersonal skills required for project coordination, resource utilization, warehouse staff and contractor coaching and training.
  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to manage a wide variety of tasks simultaneously with close attention to detail.
  • Strong analytical skills required to resolve issues and evaluate possible solutions.
  • Able to effectively deal with customers and maintain working relationships.
  • Strong computer skills with intermediate proficiency in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams)
  • An in-depth working knowledge of the Warehouse Module in SAP. 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.


REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A High School diploma plus a minimum of five (5) years’ experience in a warehouse environment is required
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered. 
  • A valid Alberta Motor Vehicle driver’s license is required.


PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Supply Chain Management Association Diploma or Supply Chain Management Professional (SCMP) designation is considered an asset 
  • Journeyman Parts Technician would be considered an asset 


Special Conditions:

  • Warehouse/yard environment, required to wear steel toed footwear and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Ability to be scheduled and take call-outs (evenings and week-ends).
  • Capable of working indoors and outdoors in all weather conditions.
