REPORTS TO: Sr Lead Engineer Distribution Planning
FortisAlberta will welcome 2 students to join the Distribution Planning department this summer.
DESCRIPTION:
Under the general supervision of the Sr Lead Engineer Distribution Planning, the Engineering Student will provide exceptional customer and stakeholder service. This will require a desire for problem solving and prioritizing the safety of employees and communities. This role will take initiative and thrive in a diverse environment that includes both team and individually based tasks.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
• Ensure the accuracy of connectivity and data integrity in FortisAlberta’s load flow simulation software, CYMEDIST.
• Create load flow base case models and performed load flow analysis using CYMEDIST.
• Produce 25 kV distribution feeder assessments recommending electrical system improvements based on identified deficiencies.
• Special projects and other duties, as required.

• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Access, Word, and Outlook.
• Display effective analytical skills.
• Independently able to be a self-starter who can work well independently or within a team environment.
• Have a proven track record in continuous improvement – willing to challenge the ‘status quo’ and provide sound recommendations to improve processes.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Currently enrolled in an Electrical Engineering Degree Program and be planning to return to a post-secondary institution in a full-time capacity.
