DESCRIPTION: 
Under the direction of the Sr Lead Engineer, the Engineer-In-Training will gain skills and experience through training and development, coaching and mentoring while supporting the Engineering team on various assignments.

 


DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
•    Develop technical and non-technical skills through completion of assignments.
•    Investigate and troubleshoot problems and recommend solutions.
•    Update and maintain documentation, standards and guidelines.
•    Prepare technical documents based on required specifications.
•    Identify areas for process improvements and assist with implementation.
•    Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders by providing customer service.
•    Research and gain understanding in industry standards and practices.
•    Provide peer reviews as required.
•    Special projects and other duties as assigned.

 


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
•    Demonstrated ability to resolve issues by analyzing and evaluating possible solutions.
•    Customer service focus with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
•    Effective written or verbal communication skills.
•    Proven ability to work in a team environment or independently with minimal supervision.
•    Ability to interpret technical documents.
•    Demonstrated ability in technical writing.
•    Demonstrated intermediate ability in using MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
•    Knowledge of electrical utility industry.

 


EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
•    Bachelor of Engineering Degree (Electrical/Computer/Communications)
•    Must be registered as an Engineer-in-Training with APEGA.
•    Experience with power flow software (CYME), GIS systems, MS Office, power line design software, coding (Python, Excel VBA), SAP, CRM or other related programs would be an asset.

 

SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
•    A valid Class 5 Alberta Driver’s license is required
•    Travel throughout the province may be required
