DESCRIPTION:
Under the general direction of the Director, Transformational Change, the Senior Transformational Change Advisor will be responsible for supporting FortisAlberta’s strategic vision and goals by providing expertise and best practice to support planning, decision making and implementation of transformational change initiatives. As a senior advisor, you will provide mentorship to the transformation team and will be accountable for planning and executing strategies and tactics that align with organizational culture and enable people to adopt transformational change while building change capacity and capability in the organization.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
- Lead design and execution of change management activities for medium to high-risk complexity programs or projects:
- Translate complex business needs into practical change management targeted strategies and plans using a structured change management methodology.
- Support all aspects of organizational change management planning and execution on assigned projects in close collaboration with the Director, Transformational Change.
- Perform confidential change impact, sponsor, and risk assessments; prepare and implement integrated sponsor roadmaps, change and communication plans to address key risks and achieve business outcomes.
- Collaborate with HR Business Partners, Communications and other business stakeholders to identify, monitor, and mitigate people risks throughout change initiatives.
- Define, measure, and report on people readiness and change success metrics.
- Collaborate with key business stakeholders to co-create and sponsor change management strategies, plans and decisions.
- Establish two-way communication mechanisms with a focus on acute listening and creating systems for feedback and engagement.
- Provide confidential consultation and coaching to teams and individuals at all levels of the organization as a trusted advisor on change management and transformation best practices and decisions.
- Partner with the Project Manager, Initiative Business Lead and Sponsor to integrate organizational change support into the project plan, including major milestones, costs, and schedule.
- Integrate people change plans with other programs and business changes as necessary.
- Contribute to building organizational capability and capacity for change:
- Advocate for and build change capability, capacity and skills in employees and leaders through training and coaching.
- Assist in developing standardized change management tools, templates and processes for the Transformational Change team.
- Identify the impact of culture on change initiatives and design an approach and interventions to help achieve desired behaviors and ways of working.
- Mentor others assigned to Organizational Change Management (OCM) responsibilities including on the use of tools, tactics and sharing best practices.
- Develop and maintain trusted relationships with stakeholders and stay connected on strategic issues impacting them.
- Develop methods to measure outcomes related to business readiness and rate of adoption.
- Design and conduct "lessons learned" and other evaluation strategies.
- .Partner with other specialists and support functions to execute people-related strategies including but not limited to employee engagement

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Demonstrated experience delivering with one or more structured change methodologies.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate and influence with and through leaders and their teams, build strong partnerships and act as an integrator.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills including presentation skills; ability to effectively communicate to people at all levels.
- Strong interpersonal, workshop design and group facilitation skills.
- Self-starter with demonstrated ability to effectively plan strategies and execute tactics collaboratively.
- Natural problem solver, comfortable with ambiguity and high change and taking a systematic approach to tackling complex problems.
- Ability to integrate and influence change plans across teams and projects.
- Sound judgement in dealing with sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong business acumen and understanding of organizational issues and challenges.
- Demonstrated ability to effectively manage and prioritize multiple priorities, projects and relationships concurrently.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
- Degree in Business, Communications, Human Resources, Organizational Development, or related discipline.
- A demonstrated track record (minimum 7 years) of successfully leading the planning and execution of strategic change efforts in support of organization and cultural change; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
- Experience leading change efforts on technology transformations or projects would be considered an asset.
- Change Management certification (i.e. Prosci).
- Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably within the electrical utility industry would be an asset.
- Experience with design thinking, organizational design, culture change and/or team effectiveness would be considered an asset.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
- Occasional overnight travel is a requirement of this position.
- Valid Class 5 drivers permit.
