FortisAlberta is seeking a collaborative and analytical Advisor, Sustainability Governance and Risk Management to support the continued evolution of our sustainability reporting and enterprise risk management (ERM) programs. In this role, you will work cross-functionally to strengthen governance practices, enhance data quality, and support enterprise risk identification, assessment, and mitigation.


This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to key organizational priorities while building expertise in two critical and rapidly evolving areas of the business.

 

Sustainability Governance
•    Support the development and implementation of the corporate sustainability governance framework. 
•    Document, maintain, and continuously improve sustainability reporting processes and internal controls. 
•    Collaborate with business units to support the collection, validation, and reporting of sustainability data. 
•    Review sustainability data to support accuracy and completeness in internal and external disclosures. 
•    Monitor emerging trends, standards, and regulatory requirements related to sustainability reporting.

 

Enterprise Risk Management
•    Support enterprise-wide adoption and continuous improvement of risk management processes, tools, and practices. 
•    Monitor enterprise risks and emerging trends through internal and external sources. 
•    Support the development and maintenance of the enterprise risk register, including risk identification, assessment, and mitigation tracking. 
•    Synthesize risk information into clear, actionable insights to support decision-making. 
•    Partner with business units to support alignment with defined risk appetite and tolerance. 
•    Contribute to the development of ERM guidance materials, training, and awareness initiatives. 
•    Support risk assessment and monitoring for key initiatives and projects. 
•    Promote alignment of risk management practices with corporate objectives and stakeholder priorities.

 

Qualifications
•    Degree in Commerce, Finance, Environmental Sciences, or a related discipline, with a minimum of five years of relevant experience.
•    Professional designation in risk management, internal audit, or a related field (e.g., CRM, CIA) is considered an asset.
•    Foundational knowledge of sustainability reporting frameworks, internal controls, and enterprise risk management principles.
•    Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex information and develop meaningful insights.
•    Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions.
•    Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

•    Monday – Friday schedule.
•    Full-time in office or hybrid role available.
•    Based out of our Calgary office location.
•    This role will be moving to our Airdrie office location in 2027.
