DESCRIPTION:

Under the general direction of the Manager IT Quality Assurance Solutions, the Enterprise IT Business Analyst is primarily responsible for gathering, analysis, and documentation requirements for all aspects of IT PMO Project Delivery Model. This includes, but not limited to approved projects, new project intake, and RFP/RFIs. This role works to align business, stakeholder, and solution requirements for IT to strategic business and technology objectives while contributing to the realization of maximum benefits from investment in people, processes, and technology.

 

The Enterprise IT Business Analyst will work closely with project delivery resources as well as business unit leaders and subject matter experts (SMEs) to define scope, requirements and verify all project deliverables ultimately meet business objectives, and will lead the business analysis effort from project intake to closure.

 

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

  • Facilitate the definition, development, and documentation of requirements for changes to existing IT systems in collaboration with multiple stakeholder groups.
  • Prepare for and conduct requirements elicitation activities for project intake, RFIs, RFPs and approved IT projects.
  • Facilitate the definition of new project requests for addition to the IT Portfolio, including high level cost and effort estimates.
  • Maintain requirements information from project intake to project closure, including transition to IT support.
  • Support the Quality Assurance Analyst (QA) and Test Lead in all phases of IT project delivery.
  • Support the Operational Change Management (OCM) Lead in all phases of IT project delivery.
  • Contribute to the development of FortisAlberta business analysis best practices and toolkits that leverage the International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) Business Analysis Body of Knowledge (BABOK) Guide.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the Business Analysis governance, methodology and processes to achieve project delivery excellence by supporting and promoting standards and best practices.
  • Contribute to updating and enhancing our Center of Excellence to ensure best practices and continuous improvement.
  • Special projects and other duties, as assigned

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Experience in eliciting and writing requirements (business / stakeholder / solution) for IT project delivery in a multi-system environment.
  • Experience in the use of different techniques for the planning and execution of activities for requirements elicitation and analysis including but not limited to: Brainstorming, Structured Workshops, Document Analysis, Business Cases, Data Flow Diagrams, Functional Decomposition, Interviews, Mind Mapping, Business Process Modeling, User Stories, Use Cases, Business Context Diagrams.
  • Proficient in the use of different tools for planning and execution of activities for requirements elicitation and analysis including but not limited to:  MS Visio, ARIS, MIRO, PowerPoint, MSWord Templates, MS Excel Templates.
  • Functional knowledge of common & specific enterprise software including but not limited to: (SAP ERP, SAP ISU, Microsoft Office 365, MS Teams, Sharepoint, CRM, Intergraph, ESRI, EpochField, PowerBI, SAP BW, HANA, MIRO, Microfocus ALM QC, JIRA).
  • Demonstrated organizational and time management skills to effectively manage multiple priorities and competing demands with tight timelines.
  • Proven verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly present information to various audiences in both formal and informal settings.
  • Customer service focus with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with team members and internal and external stakeholders, which includes excellent communication, interpersonal and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to deploy a structured approach to problem solving and work practices.
  • Familiarity with systems development methodologies, requirements analysis, system design and testing methods.
  • Knowledge and experience with Business Process modeling tools and techniques including but not limited to ARIS, Visio, Cross Functional Flow (Swimlane), EPC Diagrams, Workflow, Basic Flowcharts.
  • Experience with IT project delivery spanning multiple technical environments.
  • Knowledge and experience in the use of ARIS and Microfocus Quality Centre (ALM) would be considered an asset.

 

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Information Technology, Management Information Systems, Business or Engineering, plus a minimum of five (5) years of recent experience as an IT Business Analyst in the area of IT Operations and Projects is required.
    • Two (2) years of experience administering MIRO and Quality Centre (ALM)
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.

 

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • International Institute of Business Analysis (IIBA) Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) designation would be considered an asset.
  • An IIBA Accredited certificate or from a recognized post-secondary institute in Business Analysis, Business Intelligence, or Data Analysis would be considered an asset.
  • ProSci Change Management or Project Management Professional (PMP) certifications would be considered an asset.
  • Scrum Master or Scrum Product Owner certifications would be considered an asset.
  • Other credentials, such as Six Sigma, ITIL, DevOps, Agile, or Azure would be considered assets.
