FortisAlberta is seeking an experienced Sr IT Project Leader to lead large, complex, and business-critical technology initiatives from planning through successful delivery. 

In this role, you will bring together people, technology, and business priorities to deliver projects on time, within budget, and with meaningful results. You will work closely with senior leaders and stakeholders, lead diverse project teams, manage risks and resources, and provide coaching to other Project Leaders.

Job Description:
•    Lead the planning and delivery of large, complex, or business-critical Information Technology projects and programs from initiation through completion.
•    Define project scope, objectives, deliverables, resource requirements, and success measures in collaboration with senior leaders and stakeholders.
•    Develop and manage comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, forecasts, and resource requirements.
•    Lead and motivate internal and external project resources, establishing clear expectations and accountability for project deliverables.
•    Manage project risks, issues, dependencies, scope changes, and critical paths, developing mitigation and contingency plans as required.
•    Apply project delivery methodologies, governance frameworks, and standards to ensure consistent, high-quality project execution.
•    Serve as the primary point of contact for project stakeholders and provide clear reporting and recommendations to senior leadership.
•    Lead resource and capacity planning and coordinate with leaders to ensure projects have the expertise required for successful delivery.
•    Coach, mentor, and provide direction to Project Leaders, including supporting their performance and professional development.
•    Manage vendor relationships and influence external partners to support successful project and program delivery.
•    Conduct project health checks and lessons learned and use findings to drive continuous improvement in project delivery.
•    Contribute to the evolution of project management frameworks, policies, practices, and strategic technology initiatives.

 

Qualifications:
•    Degree or diploma in Information Technology, Computer Science, Commerce, Business Administration, or a related discipline, plus a minimum of seven years of related experience; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
•    Project management designation such as Project Management Professional, Projects in Controlled Environments, Agile Certified Practitioner, or equivalent is required.
•    Demonstrated experience leading large or complex technology projects, including scope, schedule, budget, resource, risk, and stakeholder management.
•    Experience with application development project lifecycles, methodologies, governance, and project deliverables.
•    Proven leadership, coaching, facilitation, and team-building skills with the ability to lead internal and external project resources.
•    Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, including experience presenting to and influencing senior leaders.
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make decisions, manage competing priorities, and navigate complex project challenges.
•    Experience with project financial management and SAP financial applications.
•    Proficiency with Microsoft SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, Microsoft 365, and related project collaboration tools.
•    Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably within the electrical utility industry, is considered an asset.

 

Important:
•    Permanent, full-time role.
•    Monday – Friday schedule.
•    Based out of our Calgary office location.
•    Hybrid role with opportunity to work 2 days per week from home once trained.
