DESCRIPTION:
Under the general direction of the Manager, Cyber & Corporate Security, the Supervisor Corporate & Cybersecurity Operations will work in conjunction with the Manager, Cyber & Corporate Security to lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of FortisAlberta’s comprehensive cybersecurity and physical security strategies. This role requires expertise in managing cybersecurity operations, protecting critical IT and operational technology (OT) environments, and ensuring the security of physical assets and personnel.
The Supervisor Corporate & Cybersecurity Operations will oversee the development, implementation, and maintenance of comprehensive security strategies to safeguard our information systems, operational technology (OT), physical assets, and personnel. This position is also responsible for Security oversight of all FortisAlberta physical operations which includes the direct management and oversight of FortisAlberta security contractors and security operations.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
Leadership:
• Lead, manage, coach, and motivate staff; this includes providing direction, expertise, and advice to employees, identifying employee training requirements, and formally managing the performance of employees.
• Drive all aspects of employee relations, including recruitment, performance reviews, conflict resolution, and fostering a high-performance culture.
Supervision of Cybersecurity & Corporate Security Area:
• Supervise cybersecurity operations, including threat detection, response, and mitigation, to safeguard FortisAlberta’s IT and OT systems.
• Oversee OT security initiatives in conjunction with the Manager, Cyber & Corporate Security to protect critical infrastructure and ensure safe, reliable energy delivery.
• Conduct risk assessments, vulnerability management, and implement security measures tailored to OT and IT environments.
• Collaborate with IT and operational teams to design and maintain secure network architectures and system configurations.
• Supervise all cybersecurity operations to ensure the protection of FortisAlberta’s IT and OT systems, including threat monitoring, vulnerability management, and compliance with cybersecurity policies and standards.
• Oversee incident response activities, including detection, analysis, containment, and remediation of cybersecurity incidents, ensuring rapid and effective resolution.
• Supervise the implementation, configuration, and optimization of cybersecurity tools and technologies to support the organization’s risk management strategy.
• Conduct regular security assessments and audits of both IT and OT environments to identify vulnerabilities and ensure compliance with best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Lead the development and execution of cybersecurity awareness and training programs to foster a culture of security among employees.
• Supervise the physical security auditing process across all FortisAlberta worksites, ensuring the safety and security of employees, contractors, and assets.
• Collaborate with senior management on corporate security matters, including employee-related incidents, such as terminations, workplace safety concerns, and criminal investigations.
• Oversee the procurement, deployment, and maintenance of physical security systems, including surveillance, access control, and intrusion detection systems.
• Represent FortisAlberta on cybersecurity and physical security working groups, including the Provincial Electrical Physical Security (PEPS) working group.
• Lead business continuity planning (BCP) and incident command system (ICS) activities, ensuring organizational readiness for operational disruptions or critical incidents.
• Interface with local law enforcement agencies to ensure effective communication, collaboration, and response to security-related incidents.
• Investigate and report on physical security incidents, ensuring thorough documentation and analysis to inform preventive measures and improve security posture.
• Ensure all security-related projects align with organizational objectives and remain within budgetary and operational constraints.
• Special projects and other duties, as assigned.

• Experience in conducting security assessments and risk analysis.
• Proven ability to lead highly motivated and cross functional teams.
• Customer service focus with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with team members and internal and external stakeholders.
• Demonstrated ability to build effective partnerships with all levels of employees and contractors through intuitive business insight and personal credibility; this includes the ability to make recommendations and influence outcomes.
• Proven ability to both lead and work in a team environment by providing guidance and coaching in areas of expertise; this includes effective leadership, coaching and strong team building skills.
• Excellent organization and time management skills to manage multiple priorities and competing demands under pressure and tight timelines.
• Demonstrated ability in using MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with SAP would be an asset.
• Ability to monitor surveillance systems and respond to emergencies.
• Proven ability to manage security incidents, lead teams, and develop proactive risk mitigation strategies
• Demonstrated understanding of cybersecurity operations, OT security challenges, and energy sector requirements.
• Extensive knowledge of physical security systems and procedures.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• Degree or Diploma in a related discipline with a minimum of 7 years’ experience in cybersecurity, OT security, or physical security is required; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
• Minimum of 2 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership capacity is also required.
• Previous experience working as RCMP or City Police Officer or other security-related job is an asset.
• Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, GICSP, or CPP would be an asset.
• Proven experience in developing and implementing security policies and procedures.
SPECIAL CONDITIONS:
• Due to the geographic distribution of FortisAlberta operations, travel will be required.
• Must hold a valid Class 5 Alberta driver’s license.
• Must be available for after-hours support and participate in an on-call as needed to ensure operational continuity.
