DESCRIPTION:
Under the general direction of the Manager Grid & Operations Technology Solutions, the Supervisor Grid Technology Solutions is primarily responsible for the supervision and performance of a team of information technology professionals and the continuous improvement of processes, practices and technology. This includes the review, training and coaching of staff on performance and change. This position will assist in the development and management of team goals, key performance indicators (KPIs), and budgets and the analysis and reporting of statistics. The Supervisor is accountable for the work quality of the team and partnering in delivering excellence while meeting departmental goals and enhancing employee engagement.  

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):
•    Supervise, coach, and mentor a team of employees; this includes providing direction, expertise, and advice to employees, identifying employee training requirements, and formally managing the performance of employees.
•    Manage all elements of employee relations, including working closely with Human Resources on hiring, terminating, training, and evaluating performance, administering progressive discipline, and resolving labour relations issues and/or grievances. 
•    Motivate and inspire team members through recognition and celebration of accomplishments and/or contributions. 
•    Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing practices and processes to develop innovative strategies to improve performance, employee morale and customer ownership; implement process and application changes to enhance customer service.
•    Provide technical guidance for application development and support including defining business needs, analyzing alternatives, and recommending solutions.
•    Provide technical direction for initiatives and projects including system impact assessments, stakeholder engagement, and implementation planning and deployment.
•    Ensure appropriate response to and correction of production problems including managing incident communications and follow-up root-cause investigations.
•    Review and analyze the effectiveness of existing systems and spearhead improvements to ensure systems accommodate future policies, practices, and business capability requirements.
•    Research emerging products, services, protocols, and standards in support of system development and sustainment efforts.
•    Develop and maintain relationships with external vendors to ensure efficient support of systems and timely resolution of critical issues.  
•    Work with internal stakeholders to maintain and enhance support standards, processes, and improve products and services.
•    Special projects and other duties as assigned.

•    Familiar with system development lifecycle processes and methodologies such as project management, analysis/design, testing, and implementation planning/deployments.
•    Excellent organizational and time management skills and ability to effectively manage multiple priorities and competing demands with tight timelines.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
•    Post-secondary degree or diploma in a related discipline plus a minimum of 7 years of information technology experience; a combination of education and experience may be considered.
•    Work experience with, or deep understanding of, the following technology:
•    Work force management technology. Experience with field operations scheduling and dispatch solutions an asset.
•    Enterprise ADMS technology including, but not limited to, SCADA and Outage Management Systems.
•    Experience with Schneider Electric products considered an asset
•    Experience with EpochSG product and/or Hexagon’s InService product suite considered an asset.
•    Familiarity with object-oriented programming/scripting languages and relational databases considered an asset.

•    Familiarity with any of the following engineering software tools considered an asset:
•    Eaton CYME
•    Eaton Yukon Feeder Automation
•   Doble Powerbase
•    Electrotek PQView
•    Siemens Crossbow
•    Schweitzer acSELerator QuickSet
•    Leadership experience would be considered an asset.
•    Experience working in a regulated environment, preferably within the electrical utility industry, would be considered an asset.
