DESCRIPTION:

Under the general direction of the Manager, Employee and Labour Relations, the Talent Acquisition Partner will support business leaders to attract, identify, and recruit top talent for FortisAlberta.

This will include executing full cycle recruitment for union and non-union positions as well as collaborating with business leaders to build and strengthen their team by identifying top performers for out-of-scope leadership promotion opportunities.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but not limited to):

  • Conduct full cycle recruitment, including attracting, identifying and recruiting top candidates for a broad variety of positions, including trades, niche, and hard-to-fill roles in accordance with current legislation, corporate policies and the collective agreement. This includes the following tasks:
    • Create and update job postings, interview guides, and recruitment process documentation.
    • Develop search strategies and screen resumes.
    • Conduct pre-screens, interviews, reference checks and candidate reviews.
    • Ensure union competitions follow the formal selection process
    • Craft and review offer letters and onboarding packages.
    • Ensure onboarding requirements are met, such as new hire and job change forms, criminal record checks, alcohol and drug tests, and physical assessments.
  • Build and maintain trusting relationships with internal stakeholders such as employees, hiring managers, and business leaders as well as candidates, post-secondary institutes, vendors, and other groups; this includes coaching and supporting business leaders through all aspects of Talent Acquisition.
  • Manage relocations per internal policies and guidelines, including monitoring costs, reviewing invoices and notifying management and Human Resources Business Partners of relevant relocation information.
  • Keep current on recruitment issues affecting FortisAlberta’s operations and reputation; this includes providing on-going feedback to management team to mitigate potential labour relation issues.
  • Identify and implement improvement opportunities for current recruitment processes and practices to enhance efficiency and provide superior customer service.
  • Special projects and other duties, as assigned.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Solid verbal and written communication skills including the ability to clearly present information to various audiences in both formal and informal settings.
  • Customer service focus with the proven ability to develop and maintain effective relationships with team members and internal and external stakeholders through intuitive business insight and personal credibility; this includes the ability to make recommendations and influence outcomes.
  • Highly self-motivated, with a demonstrated ability to prioritize and execute with excellence on multiple projects and initiatives in a fast-paced environment along with the ability to easily shift directions to address changing priorities and focus while working successfully with different types of people at many organizational levels.
  • Demonstrated discretion and sound judgment in the handling of confidential information; this includes a high degree of professionalism, integrity and objectivity.
  • Advanced strategic and problem-solving skills, including the ability to understand the impact of relevant options.
  • Demonstrated ability in using MS Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint); familiarity with SAP would be an asset.
  • Strong knowledge of legislative compliance with all relevant provincial and federal legislation including Employment Standards, Human Rights, and Privacy legislation.

 

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • A Degree or diploma in Human Resources, Business Administration, or other related discipline plus a minimum of 5 years of experience in Talent Acquisition; an equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • A CPHR (Chartered Professional in Human Resources) designation would be an asset.  
  • Experience working in a corporate unionized environment with relevant labour relations knowledge would be considered an asset.
  • Previous experience in a recruitment agency or services provider, recruiting hard-to-fill or niche roles would be considered an asset.
